Understanding Mesothelioma

Who is at Risk of Developing Mesothelioma?

Anyone who worked with or around asbestos, or came in contact with someone who worked with or around asbestos, is at risk for developing mesothelioma.

We are all exposed to asbestos in our daily lives. Asbestos dust is in the air we breathe. Asbestos disease is most commonly seen in those trades that worked with and around asbestos products. However, exposure can occur from casual contact with a variety of asbestos-containing products found in the home or office, such as floor or ceiling tiles. Exposure can also be a result of household contact with someone who worked with or around asbestos. That person may have brought asbestos into the household on their work clothes or body, thereby exposing spouses and children.
